Appliqué

Appliqué

I’ve been experimenting with appliqué since I first started at Goldsmith’s over 25 years ago. The technique appeals to my love of handwork and I’ve used it in many commissions over my career. The possibilities of applique are limitless: it’s a playground of shape, stitching, colour, scale and most importantly texture. It can give my pieces a traditional flavour, a restrained modernity, a place-specific feel, or a bold, pop-inspired burst of energy.
